Passe-Plats ‘Borot’

1952

Rectangular structure in wood with a slightly curved ‘shaped’ tray in the centre, rear part opening with two doors.

Unique piece

Charlotte Perriand thought several times about the use of passe-plat in the specific interiors she designed. In 1929, she exhibited this project for L’équipement intérieur d’une habitation at the Salon d’Automne in collaboration with Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret. The model was to be found in various forms, whether for public commissions (Unité d’habitation, Marseille, 1949, Unité d’habitation Air France, Brazzaville, 1952, Grands ensembles, Le Mans, 1953…) or for private commissions (Appartement Coquatrix, 1950, Maison Borot, 1952…).
