The gallery is delighted to announce its participation in the very first Parisian edition of Design Miami/, taking place from October 17th to 22th in a legendary venue in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés – the Hôtel des Maisons. Sharing the stand with Thomas Fritsch, a German-Pratin neighbor specializing in the decorative arts and post-war French ceramics, the Downtown gallery is unveiling a treasure unknown to the general public: the minimal yet monumental “Japon” desk designed by Charlotte Perriand for the “Soumi” Memorial in Ichinomya in 1955. This piece appears to have been inspired by her trip to Japan, whose form recalls the structure of Japanese religious architecture, and stands out from her previous desks, such as those published in France by BCC as early as 1946. Also on show will be Jean Prouvé’s “Bridge Directeur” armchair and Serge Mouille’s “Totem” lighting column.
