On the occasion of MAZE Art Gstaad 2026, Laffanour | Galerie Downtown unveils a rigorously curated selection of major 20th-century works, orchestrating a refined dialogue between design, architecture, and art. Conceived as a modernist journey, the presentation highlights pieces chosen for the ingenuity of their conception and the clarity of their formal language. A chair by Charlotte Perriand, originally designed for the Hôtel Le Doron in Méribel, embodies a vision of furniture in resonance with its environment, while the creations of Jean Prouvé exemplify an exceptional constructive approach, grounded in an economy of means and the primacy of function.

The presentation is further enriched by the iconic seating of Pierre Jeanneret, created for Chandigarh, whose structural sobriety engages in a compelling dialogue with the rare monumentality of the dining table by José Zanine Caldas, unveiled to the public for the first time — a true manifest work situated at the intersection of sculpture and architecture, shaped through an almost telluric relationship to material. Surrounding these key pieces, sculptural lighting, organic furniture, tapestries, and contemporary works form a cohesive display, reaffirming the gallery’s commitment to the legacy of postwar design and the enduring relevance of this heritage today.
