On 27 June 2026, Laffanour | Galerie Downtown and Mennour unveiled a new intervention by Tadashi Kawamata at LH14140 — Downtown | Normandy, bringing together architecture, landscape and contemporary creation within the Norman countryside.

Conceived specifically for the estate, the project unfolds through a series of site-specific wood structures. Throughout the landscape, Kawamata’s interventions appear to grow organically from their surroundings, dissolving the boundaries between construction and nature, sculpture and shelter.

At its centre, Nest on Prouvé (2025) is suspended from one of the pylons of Jean Prouvé’s demountable house (1946), establishing a compelling dialogue between the architect’s modernist vision and Kawamata’s instinctive approach to building. Elsewhere, a monumental nest (2026) settles into the valley, while a perched house (2026) invites visitors to experience the site from an entirely new perspective.

The intervention is complemented by a group of new sculptures from Kawamata’s Bonsaï series. Combining fragments of architecture with organic forms, these intimate works echo the larger installations across the estate, extending the artist’s ongoing exploration of habitat, memory and the ways in which we inhabit both natural and built environments.

Together, these works create a subtle conversation between historical architecture, contemporary art and the living landscape, revealing Kawamata’s unique ability to transform place through simple materials, collective memory and poetic intervention.
